Dams Ford Lincoln FAQ

What are the service intervals for Ford?

If your Ford is 2007 and older, the service intervals are every 5,000 km. Ford vehicles 2008 and newer have service intervals every 8,000 km. Every vehicle has an owner’s manual containing the maintenance schedule for the vehicle. Manuals detail which services need to be completed at each interval.

Does Ford offer free maintenance?

No, free maintenance is not included with new or used Fords. You can better protect your Ford with extended service plans for new owners to choose from. The plans vary between how many components are covered along with certain high-tech parts, including cruise control and safety components.

Maintenance plans are an option, too. They can be customized based on time, distance, and service frequency.

How often does Ford recommend oil changes?

Change your engine oil each 8,000 to 16,000 km. It's important to note that these numbers will depend on your vehicle’s model year, driving habits, and driving conditions. If you cover a lot of miles in an urban environment, more frequent oil changes are a good idea.

Dams Ford Lincoln can guide you on the best oil change intervals for your driving habits.

Is a Ford expensive to maintain?

No, although maintenance costs can vary depending on the Ford model you own. The CAA's Driving Cost Calculator (caa.ca) indicates that the average maintenance cost of a Ford Escape is $1400.00. If you decide to buy an extended service plan or maintenance plan, you can finance the expense costs over time, and cut back on any out-of-pocket expenses.

What does "service engine soon" mean on my Ford vehicle cluster?

This means that more than a routine service is required. If this indicator is on, you should schedule an appointment with our service team as soon as possible.

We'll get a certified technician to thoroughly check your vehicle. We'll also do diagnostic tests, if we think they are needed. This way, we'll be able to figure out what's causing the dash light and resolve the problem quickly and professionally.

Do service plans really save money?

If you have unexpected service or maintenance requirements, they impact your budget negatively. The extended plans from Ford give owners peace of mind. They know for sure that their car, truck, or SUV is covered fully by Ford Canada. As well, plan owners can finance repairs over a period of time.

Roadside Assistance is included with every plan. If you require towing, a flat changing, or lockout assistance, Ford has you covered!

Does missing a service void my warranty?

It could. It's your responsibility to follow the maintenance schedule and use Ford-approved parts are used for any servicing or repairs. If you don't follow the scheduled maintenance detailed in your owner’s manual, you will void your warranty coverage on any parts impacted by any neglected maintenance.

Which is better, a service or maintenance plan?

Look at what is included and covered with each option to help you decide which one is better for you. Ford extended service plans are more comprehensive and coverage of parts and labour to repair major components of your vehicle is included. Ford maintenance plans cover the costs of maintaining a vehicle like oil changes, wiper blades, spark plugs, etc. Both Ford maintenance and service plans through Ford Protect have quite a few advantages:

  • You get to avoid future price increases on labour and parts because you pay  today’s prices
  • Finance the cost of your plan over a period of time
  • Only genuine Ford parts used
  • Ford factory-trained technicians do all servicing and repairs
  • A plan can increase the resale value of your vehicle.
